John has a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Design & Environmental Planning from the University of Minnesota. He has over 35 years of experience in the landscape architecture industry. He has worked several years with the DNR in a variety of roles. These include: State Park Development Resource Supervisor, State Park Administrator, Metro Region State Park Manager and the Northwest Regional State Park Manager. He has also owned his own landscape nursery and design-build landscape company in Rosemount/Apple Valley, MN. Currently he is also part owner of Northwoods Landscape & Recreation, Inc. with his son, Scott.
John is directly involved in the community as a leader on several committees: Headwaters Regional Development Commission, Northwest Resource Conservation Development, MRPA, Business Networking International, and many others. He donates hours of his time helping the City of Bemidji and the N.W. Regional to become a star community.
John and his wife Marvel, and their two sons Scott and Brian, have lived in Bemidji for over 14 years and are very involved in the community.

Erica has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from North Dakota State University. Her past professional experience includes over eight years in the landscape architecture industry in areas such as: high-end residential, retail/commercial design, residential P.U.D. projects, and park planning. She has a strong background in landscape and graphic design with computer skills in programs such as AutoCad and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
She is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. She has also been involved with the organization Minnesota Design Team (MDT) which is a group comprised of volunteer architects, landscape architects, urban designers, planners and other experts in design and community development. She participated with the MDT locally when they visited Walker, MN. The MDT works with community members to come up with a vision for sustainable planning and physical design ideas that the community can implement.
Erica and her husband Will live on Steamboat Lake near Laporte, along with their son, Quinlan.
